Many of you have excellent skills and knowledge of the job and what you do, but sometimes this can be limiting without continually learning new skills.  It could be a new computer system, knowledge about a particular skill in fashion or knowledge about a fashion off shore market, whatever it is there are courses out there for you to get more knowledge and be more valuable in the long run.
 
Many employers in fashion are looking at innovative ways to maintain their staff whilst being conscious of costs within their business.  I recently met with a major retailer in Melbourne who has introduced the 9 day fortnight for their staff to maintain the team during quieter times.  This is a fabulous initiative and a great opportunity for the employees to up skill themselves by doing a short course.
 
Why not look up some courses that interest you and discuss with your employer the opportunity to reduce your hours to gain new skills.  It is amazing how education stimulates the mind and refreshes your perspective and thinking.  There is definitely something for everyone and it might be as simple as a new language to better correspond with off shore suppliers,  a refresher on a graphic design software or a retail training course,  whatever you choose know that it will only benefit you in the long run!
